Memory Problems

I got 6 GB of new RAM today for Christmas, but seem to be having some problems and need some help. I have a Gigabyte EX58-Extreme. I have a 6GB kit from OCZ (OCZ3G1600LV6GK) DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24 1.65v. Then today I added a 6GB kit from Corsair (CMP6GX3M3A1600C8) DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24 1.65v. However in windows it shows I have 12GB with 8GB available. It only shows 8GB on POST, but shows 12GB in CPUZ and Memtest86+ shows no problems. Any ideas?

is your operating system 64bit?

I have a core i7 920 with a Gigabyte EX58-Extreme Motherboard, 850w power supply, two Nvidia 9800 GTX+ in SLI, and an OCZ ssd. I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64.

I wouldn't worry about it, really. You won't be using even half of that RAM for another year, and by the time you need 8, it'll be time to upgrade to DDR4.
