I am interested in a new computer but didn't know how to compare all the various CPUs for performance etc. I found a website, "Passmark CPU benchmarks" ( http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php) that lists a significant number of CPUs and the rresults of their benchmark testing. Is this a good way to compare the performance of CPUs (and video cards) in different off the shelf computers. It seems logical to me but logic has not always prevailed with computers for me. Thanks.

Passmark CPU ratings will give you a somewhat general idea of how good a processor is. However it's not based on any strict kind of testing as the user scores are user submitted, and the 'test' itself seems to have a great deal of score fluctuations
