My lappie says detected hard disk problems

My laptop says it has hard drive problems and need to back up immediately...I ran chkdsk but dont knw what the results are... Although i clicked ignore on the pop up window to back up...Help

Backup the data, and contact the manufacture if it's under warranty. If it's out of warranty backup the data, and look at the manufacture's website for a tool to test the hard drive with. If the drive fails look into getting a replacement, which you would then need recovery disc to install the OS again.

Experienced this recently with a user at work - it was a fake av scam. Yes, you'll want to backup your data to an external source. Then, you'll want to attempt to use system restore to go to a previous restore point. At that point, run an antimalware scan (malware bytes, superantispyware, etc.). Let it quarantine anything it finds.

If you feel you're still experiencing complications at that point, I would reload your OS entirely.
