Hello,
I have an Abit AN52 mobo, running Windows 7 64-bit and Windows XP. My front and back panel USB and PS/2 ports (which are only back panel of course) keep failing. The front USB ports suddenly stop recognizing flash drives while they are plugged in, and the keyboard and mouse stop working. This has happened maybe three or four times total, but it makes me nervous.

So far, restarting always brings them back to life. But, what should I start troubleshooting to fix this?

There is a certain problems in your mobo. consult a hardware engineer. There can be some cable fault or a small short circuit or a fault ic chip in your mobo.

if you dont fix this fast then it may result in complete shutdown of your mobo.

this type of problem i had in my board of intel 965 board.

this kind of faults is actually industrial fault not user fault.
