Hi all,

I have an IBM ThinkPad R32 running Win2000 Server and am experiencing
the following peculiar, annoying behaviour:

Neither the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" system tray icon nor the
"Control Panel > Add/Remove Hardware > Unplug/Uninstall a device"
display the CD-ROM drive which is installed in the laptop and which
seems to function ok. Moreover, the CD-ROM drive does appear in the
Device Manager.

I have downloaded all the latest patches & drivers from MSFT as well
as from IBM.

This is a problem only because I frequently need to swicth between my
CD-ROM drive and a second hard-drive (which, via a caddy, goes into
the CD-ROM drive bay) and have no way to safely switch between the two
devices without Shutting Down and then Restarting the laptop. [this
was never a problem for my various Dell and Compaq laptops :( ]

Any ideas/suggestions?

Many thanks in advance!
