Hello,

This may seem like a question from a dummy. I have an i7 930 processor. I need to reseat my heat sink (Noctua U12P) because the first attempt at placing it wasn't very good. - I had a very uneven spread of thermal paste

Noctua tell me that I can wipe the existing paste off the heatsink with toilet paper or a kitchen towel and not risk damaging it.

I've read everywhere warnings that processors are extremely fragile - can be damaged by static electricity etc. Is it a bad idea to wipe the processor clean of thermal paste with toilet paper or a kitchen towel? It's seems like a very simple thing - but I'd hate to damamge the processor.
like a said, a question from a dummy.

Thanks for any answers.

Well, because I do not drink coffee (piece of coffee filter is excellent), I use a piece of an old lint free T-shirt.

As far as anti-static measures are concerned, I have a thin sheet of anti-static foam I use for a work surface.

That's worked well for me for many years.
