Time for an upgrade.
I've got 4 gb of some G-Skill DDR3 1600 RAM
Going to get the i5-750 (I don't feel I need hyperthreading from the i7 because I mainly just game) <--- And if that's wrong someone please speak up.
Getting a 120gb OCZ v2 SSD

Anyways my last build I used the asus 680 sli and seemed to really enjoy the whole asus experience (even the customer service).

I would more than likely like to stick with them as far as mobo's go.

With all the new products popping up left and right I can't seem to put my thumb down on a specific one.

I would like to OC slightly but nothing crazy (more than likely would just use software). Recommendations?

Solution
Correct-ish, the Hyperthreading, or lack thereof, is not the issue -- the issue is the advantages of the X58 Chipset architecture for gaming. My X58 gaming rigs are extremely OC with both HT & TB off!

For P55 builds I recommend the P7P55D-E PRO or ASUS Maximus III Formula.

Well I'm working with about 800$
i5-750
OCZ V2
WD Black 650gb
Asus mobo (150-200$ depending)
windows 7 home x64

Anyways that's coming to about 800$ with those items.
I guess I could cut out the SSD but seems like everything bottle necks until you have an SSD. So this would seem crucial if I'm going for an upgrade.

So unless you have any other ideas for that $ amount feel free to share =)

Is the SSD i'm looking at. It's being discontinued?!? If so what other SSD in that price range do you recommend?

Sorry I didn't specify but the HDD WD that I was looking at was the 6.0 gb/s compared to the seagate 3.0 you posted.

They are the same price.

With one I get the 6.0 (is the speed worth it? from what I've read I don't know. Alot of mixed reviews)

The seagate is 3.0 but almost twice amount of memory.

I currently run on a WD 280gb HD that isn't even full so didn't know if it was necessary.

Thanks for your help Jaquith.

It depends on 'what line of V2' EOL = End of Life - http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_core_series_v2_sata_ii_2_5-ssd-eol

Alternative SSD solutions, each has their Pros & Cons but they ALL faster and are within your price range -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100008120%204018&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&CompareItemList=636|20-227-578^20-227-578-TS,20-148-348^20-148-348-TS,20-233-125^20-233-125-TS When the X68 is available I plan on building a rig with a PCIe SSD ~ Revo.

HDDs are a big yawn to be, but I prefer Seagate or Hitachi because WD disables TLER on consumer HDDS and WD are NOT the most reliable HDDs; I personally RAID 1 {mirror HHDs}. Benchmarks - http://www.harddrivebenchmark.net/hdd_lookup.php?cpu=WDC+WD6402AAEX Also, I would't waste a SATA3 {6 Gb/s} port on ANY HDD; keep in mind never to confuse Interface with Actual speed. Even the SATA3 Raptor 10K are 1/2 of the SATA2 speed limitations of 300 MB/s per device. Often the combined speeds in a RAID 0 with SATA2 has more total 'speed' than many SATA3 MOBO 'really' offer. Nice Tom's article about that recently published.

lol yeah just like everything else right?

I don't know if I've ever owned a corsair product but every time I look at RAM or flash drives I almost always get a Corsair.
Seems to be a good product.

I use to work retail so I know 90% of all rebates are scams but thank you Jaquith. I believe I will go with the Corsair SSD.

I've done several Corsair rebates and always {knock on wood} received the rebates.

Yeah, I have had very good luck with Corsair products, and now many are longterm so I feel very comfortable with them; especially their RAM & PSUs.

Good Luck on your build -- it will be awesome! Enjoy! :)
