Power went out for a day cable modem working but wireless router says modem is t

My power went out for a day. When i came back home I had to call the cable company to get the modem back on line. However, since then I cannot go wireless. The modem light is lit in yellow on the front of the router. I have tried resetting the router, cable company says I need a new router (this happened last month too and it is a NEW router). Is there a solution to this???

  1. Possibly the router and modem need restarting in sequence so that they can recognise each other -- the cable company should have been able to tell you how.

    If in doubt download the maker's manual for the router.
