The real question is,' Why do people keep buying overpriced CPUs?' If they don't do it, intel won't do it.
If you could sell something with a 300% premium to a satisfied customer, wouldn't you?
Apple on the other hand... takes advantage of the unknowledgeable (like most big computer retailers). And offers the same product for a huge premium (go look up 24" monitors from apple and compare that to newegg's, it'll make you sick). There is a difference there IMO.
