CAN I FIT ATI RADEON HD 5870 IN COOLER MASTER 690 NVIDIA EDITION CHASSIS?

Probably, but it will blow up.

Yes, it will fit and not blowup (of course it won't work right since it knows it is in a Nvidia case [:mousemonkey:5] ).

It will work just fine, but I would recommend going with the newer Cooler Master CM690 II Advanced over the Nvidia Edition, unless you must have green. The Cooler Master HAF 922 is a better/bigger case for around the same price as another option.

The 690II has things going for it that make it at least the 922's equal. The design is less flashy, it has better water cooling options (or so I'm told) and it has the same excellent performance, but with less noise.

but I would indeed get the 690 II advanced. All the good stuff of the original, but improved. And it's not that much more expensive.

@OP: of course it will fit. There are much smaller cases like Antec's Sonata III that are known to take it easily.
