Simultaneous Sound Cards

I have two sound cards in my system. One is an Asus Xonar DS, the other is an integrated Sound Card that came with my Motherboard (Foxconn Renaissance). My question is if Windows 7 or Vista or XP will allow me to play music/movies through the integrated sound and run games via the Asus card at the same time. I am in the process of reinstalling Windows, and don't have a preference at this point. The main application for music will be iTunes and the main application for movies will be VLC Media Player. I am open to suggestions on applications permitting this.

Yes it is possible to use both you will have to configure the outputs for each but it can be done. There can be problems with doing so though some soundcards don't play nice with onboards and you could have some instabilities.

Can you give me any specific info, as Windows 7 Sound Manager only lets me put one sound device as default.

Well for an example with windows media player you would go to options>devices and if you click the speaker you can change where the audio comes from.
