Ram upgrade

hello i have asus g73jw laptop with 6gb ram 2x2 gb modules today i tried to upgrade one empty slot with 4 gb stick but when i restart comp. he was showing only 4 gb 2x2 instead of 3x2 and 1x4 gb any opinions

rams work best if you put same sticks in all the slots, if you dont it often refuses to work

Did you read the laptop manual before buy the RAM? I'm pretty sure that you don't did it.

Main Memory: DDR3 1333 MHz up to 8GB (Intel® i7-720QM / i7-740QM / i7-820QM platform

3x2GB + 1x4GB = 10GB IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, more when you need install stick of the same specs and amount (2GB in this case, not 4GB).

RMA the 4GB stick and buy one of the same specs that you currently have for avoid compatibility problems. Here is the manual for future reference. Read page 19th

this laptop has hm 55 chipset and according to eprom chip he can support 16 gb ram but thanks fyi i order one stick of 2 gb
