Hi Guys

I have a asus rampage II extreme and well it only supports SATA 3GBS...my question:

1. Will Intel SSD 520 work on this board, (and is it worth it , since it wont run at its full potential)
2. Can i get a PCI card to run the SSD at full speed?

Current HDD setup is 2 x 500GB 7200RPM Seagate (Software Raid)

thank you! I dont want to bye a new mb and cpu jst to accomadate the intel ssd :pfff:

Yes, the SSD will work. You will not get the advertised speeds from the drive but real-world performance will be much better than your current HDD setup.

Yes, you can, but you would have to spend more than if you had just bought a new motherboard and cpu.

Hi Dereck47

thank you for you detailed reply. I have currently 2 x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Seagate drives...will it still be significantly slower than SSD on SATA2.

Thankyou!
