Processor upgrade, Motherboard support.

Hello, I've created an account just to ask this question, will this processor http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0346724 fit in a Pegatron Narra5 Motherboard? I read some posts with the same problem, but none are very specific about it. I think someone said that Any AM3 Processor will fit in a AM2+ slot. If it will work, and if i need to update my BIOS, can you give me a link to the BIOS update? I was screaming because I couldn't find any updates for my BIOS. Please Help, I want to upgrade TOMORROW.

  1. Based on the HP site, it supports Phenom II with TDP less than 95 watts, which your CPU choice is. I don't see where BIOS updates are required but I would review the site for the required information or updates.

Yeah but would it work in my motherboard? It's a AM2+ and I read on wikipedia that only some AM2+ Motherboards support AM3 processors.....
  3. Oh and will it work with DDR2 RAM? Sorry If this is the wrong area to post that.

The specifications listed by HP show it supports AMD Phenom II processors, which are AM3 CPU's. The processors just have to have a TDP of 95 or less.

From what I can tell on the specification sheet, it doesn't state a BIOS update is required. I would review the product download page for your PC ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/static_software_select?swlinkmsg=100&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00007682 ) and see what is available for BIOS updates. If there are newer BIOS than yours, it will need a BIOS update to the latest BIOS provided for the CPU to work.
