New gaming rig - what are your views on it?

Hey all just thinking what are your thoughts on my new system as I originally planned to spend just £600 but got a bit of a windfall in work and I also really wanted the SSD hard drive and a cinema system link up.

POWER 700W STORM LPK19-35 PSU £25.58
HARD DRIVE Seagate OEM 500GB Barracuda and OCZ 60 GB Vertex Series SATA II 2.5-Inch SSD Drive £187.56
Misc Sony 24x DVDRW Internal + cables hdmi and sata + sdd bay + windows 7 upgrade cd + Xclio Godspeed Two Advanced case + Akasa AK-MX010 2.5' MOUNT 3.5' for SSD + A/Cooling Freezer 7 Pro v2 £144.21

Total worth (new) 19/04/10 £948.76

  1. ^ 2x HD 4850s ? and a cheapo PSU ? and also that mobo will not do x8x8 crossfire, which will bottleneck the 2nd card...
  2. I had to buy 4850s because the higher cost so much here in the UK. I think the PSU should do the job fingers crossed they always let me down anyway so dont mind replacing in the future.

Also what do you mean with the crossfire i've never used crossfire or sli before
  3. If you run 2 cards, then it is called as Crossfire - ATI specific tech and SLI is Nvidia specific tech for the same...
  4. Your right I didn't realise how big an impact that would make on the system so i'll send the mobo back and get a x16 x16 one, would like the dolby 5.1 surround built in too though. Could you suggest me a good mobo that covers this?

    Thanks for the help
  5. ^ Hi...its not necessary that you get a full x16x16 mobo...even x8x8 will do for today's graphic cards...

    Get this mobo -
Gigabyte 890GX - newer chipset with SATA 6GB/s and USB 3.0...
