can anyone help me with my pc problem, ive got a home built pc that wont post or boot or display anything, its been playing up recently and now it wont boot at all.
It wont beep unless I remove the memory sticks from the motherboard. When i remove them the pc makes 10 short beeps and then shuts down. Can anyone figure out whats wrong with it? Im suspecting the RAM becuase there are no beeps when the ram is in.
Specs: E6600 core 2 duo, 2gb ddr2 ram, Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L motherboard, 850W realpower pro power supply.
The hard drive spins, the motherboard lights that indicate the CPU is working, the power supply seems to be able to power my other computer and the motherboard has just been replaced as i RMAd the previous one thinking it was a motherboard problem. Im not sure if its a graphics card fault or memory card fault or something else. Can anyone help?
Thanks for the reply, ive tried resetting the CMOS and ive tried using one stick at a time. When I use any of the sticks the pc wont beep at all, when I take out both sticks I get 10 short beeps before it shuts down. Any suggestions?
Sounds like the RAM is faulty. That's weird that both sticks would go bad, though. What RAM do you have? I would RMA the RAM if it has a lifetime warranty. Or you could take this opportunity to upgrade to 4GB and pick up a nice new kit.
