4gb Kingston Hyperx ddr2 1066
Amd 965/corsair h50 (push/pull)
Total of 10 fans in Thermaltake Spedo Advance case (7-120mm, 1-140mm, 2-230mm)
BFG 1,000w PSU
1 WD 300GB velociraptor, 2 master/slave 300gb drives
1 LG blueray writer/ 1 LG DVD-writer
Asus Crosshair II MB (flashed bios to support AM3)
EVGA 285 2gb video card
Temps are nice and cool (should be huh?) and I’ve never overclocked her---yet. I’m debating on making the jump to the 5970 video card. My question is would I need to increase my RAM and PSU? The 120mm fans are all antec 2,000rpm fans so I don’t know how much this draws on my power. The other 2-230mm and 140mm are all stock. Would I be okay to swap graphics cards with no real issues? And could my system handle it? Would I need a newer MB that supports DDR3 Ram? Would DDR3 memory make that much of a difference?

1. No and No
4. Yes No (I misread your question at first)
Thanks Logan the Huge! I appreicate it. Makes me feel a little better about my setup. Knowing that i'm not going to have to buy a new MB/RAM AND the 5970 is even better!
wasabiman123, why would you keep the 285? The 5970 can do so much more. I hardly see the benifit of getting DDR3 RAM as oposed to upgrading to the 5970. Maybe you can enlighten me! Thanks for the replies!
Any one else care to comment? I'd like one or two more opinions before i puchase a 5970 OC.
If my system is good to go, would i see much benefit in upgrading to DDR3 Ram?? I'm using this primarily as a gaming system (Crysis). Or would i be better off just purchasing another stick of 2gb ddr2?
You won't be able to tell the difference between DDR3 and DDR2 RAM on your system. You also won't be able to tell the difference between 4GB and 6GB of RAM since 4GB is plenty for gaming. In fact, if you go with an odd number on your RAM sticks then it will run in single-channel mode and actually be slower.
I would just buy the 5970 and call it a day. No other upgrades will offer a noticeable difference in gaming performance.
