Thats hard. I like all the of the middle choices.

ACDC is great but overplayed. Livin on a prayer I have similar feelings about.
I voted for I wanna rock.. its a pretty good tune that Ive only heard 10million times instead of 10 billion. :smile:

The Stones are eliminated by default, as they are not a rock band, as the poll is titled <i>Greatest Rock Song</i>. Clapton? Maybe when he was on the smack. He wouldn't recognise a decent song now if it hit him in the face with a sign saying "Hey, I'm a decent song".

You gotta be kidding?
Ac Dc has lots of songs that are just as good or better,
"long way to the top", "hells bells","shoot to thrill".
Kiss has some good songs but nothing close to Led Zepplein, The Who, The Stones, Aerosmith. etc etc.
Ever hear Zeppleins "Rock N Roll"?
Besides whats your critea for a great rock song?
How about great guitar, & drums?
Maybe songs that always sound good. That would get rid of any kiss song.
Twisted sister and Poison aren't even in the Styx level, let alone AC DC

Maybe not heavy metal band, but the stones are one of the greatest rock bands ever, top 5 for sure. And I don't even like them that much but I would be a idiot if I didn't realize how good they are. Read a little about how many bands were influenced by the Stones.
Clapton great guitar, but how about Santana? Jimmy Hendrix? Steve Howell? Ted Nugent?The only band on your list that has a really good rock guitarist is AC DC.

Do you know how rock & roll started brainiac?
Maybe it was blues, and jazz and etc etc. Any musician knows that the Stones are one of the greatest Rock & Roll bands ever. To say they aren't a rock N roll band is idiotic.
And any good rock song has a good guitar riff in it. Ask Ted Nugent:-) Are you saying a rock song can be "great" without great guitar work and drums? Of course everybody could have different criteria for what they think is good, or great. I believe any great rock song is going to have really good guitar & drum work. Now do you understand why I mentioned guitarist? or do you want me to explain it more simply? Great rock song has great guitar, great guitar has great guitarist playing it. okay understand?
Of course you might like average guitarist in your favorite rock songs, that okay too.(for you)

See, now your changing track. The Stones ARE Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley was rock & roll etc etc. The Stones are not, by today's definition, a rock band. AC/DC are a rock band, Kiss are a rock band. The Stones, great band that they are, simply aren't rock.

Todays definition makes "The Rolling Stones" not a rock band.??? wtf??When did a definition of "rock" band change?
