This is my first time with this, so don't be surprised if there is some glaring error I have missed.

Is there anything wrong with my build? Is there something that I could get the would yield better price/performance?

More about 1200 gaming compatability
  1. I'd get the case and this 1 TB hard drive:

    Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185&cm_re=spinpoint_f3-_-22-152-185-_-Product

After rebate, it'll be about 180 (case and drive) and the spinpoint is a faster drive.

This motherboard is more future-proof with SATA 6 and USB 3.0 and will be compatible with the upcoming 6 core AMD processor in case you would want to upgrade your processor in a year or two.

  2. RAM-Get the DDR3 1600 7-8-7-24 timing Ripjaws. Totally worth $5 more.

    Follow morton's suggestions.

Also, check out combo deals. You should be able to get that build for a bit less.

Personally, I don't like the 5870's price/performance ratio. It's 10%-15% more FPS than a 5850, but 30% more expensive. Still, fit's into your budget and it's the largest performance boost for $100.
