Are old ATX cases fine with the newest boards?

Hi there,

Can I take a 10-year old cheapo ATX case with a PSU and expect a new AM3 ATX-form board to sit in it without issues?

I do realise that the PSU has to supply enough, but that should not be a problem in my case. But for instance, I don't know whether the PSU-Motherboard power connection has remained the same over the last 10 years.

I do realise that a new case can be bought cheaply, but I still rather save the money and avoid throwing useful stuff away...

The case should work for the motherboard but the PSU is probably not sufficient for new hardware. Connectors have changed and new hardware needs more of certain voltages like +12volt.
