External Maxtor IDE Drive Not being recognized

Hello,
I have an Acer Laptop with Windows 7. I have connected my Maxtor Diamondplus 45, 40Gb hard drive via a USB2.0 to IDE&Sata cable. Recognized new device and said software was installed.The drive shows up under Drivers and Printers. Says it is working properly. But I see no files. Worked fine with my Dell PC running Vista which I no longer have. Does not show up as a drve under Computer. Drivers shown are: C:/windows/system32/DRIVERS/disk.sys
C:/windows/system32/drivers/partmgr.sys

It's fixed. I ejected it under devices and printers. Unplugged the USB. Plugged it back in and Voila!!!!
