Will my cpu hold back my GPU?

I have a GA-M51GM-S2G motherboard and an intel core 2 duo processor, will they hold back my ati 5770 from performing its best?

Which processor. Have you overclocked it?

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz, non overclocked.

At stock it will limit you on the more CPU intensive games. However if your motherboard allows for it then it should OC easily and well, probably up to around 3ghz just on the stock cooler. At that point it wont be anything to worry about.
