How hard is to to drain a cooling system to swap out liquid cooled graphics card

I was looking to swap out graphics cards on a liquid cooled system and I was wondering if it was just as simple as puting a bucket under a connection with a plastic joint wrap and draining it out and then putting it back in. I am worried about residual coolant and unexpected pockets of coolant. I want to take advantage of EVGA's 90 day upgrade policy for GTX480 cards. Any thoughts. I would post a pic of my rig if I knew how to.
