I have 2 x 1 Gb DDR2 800 running on 64 bit.
Can the Gigabyte board GA MA 770 DS3 also handle DR3 memory upgrade to 4 Gb.
Who knows?
Who has experience if it works?

No. A motherboard can only support one type of RAM at a time.
(At one point, two types were supported, but they are now aged boards)

DDR2 and DDR3 physically don't match. Meaning you cannot insert DDR3 memory in aDDR2 slot. Also voltage requirements are different too.
