Hey all,

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice I got a while back with respect to headphones. I ended up going with some Senheisser HD555's and all I can say is... holy crap. Even shitty mp3's sound better with these things. I just got my x-fi card in as well and I've started downloading a ton of flac .

Awesome stuff. Now I'm curious to see if the higher model headphones can make this even better .

One question though: What should my soundcard settings be like? I mean, should I turn up the volume in my computer as high as possible and then control the headphone volume using the soundcard (it's an external one).

Any help would be appreciated,

My usual rule of thumb is not to turn the sound source (the PC in this case) to maximum volume, if there are any amplifiers in between. Keeping your input signal below max avoids distortion.

maximum volume in the computer, is unity gain, no filtering is applied.
