As ct suggested, the HD 4850 is a good $100 card. I'm just not sure if your power supply has enough juice for it though, and does your PSU have a 6 pin PCI-e connector?
If it doesn't, then I would get an HD 5670. If your PSU can handle it, just get 4850.

It's 100$, free ship?

It has a 20$ rebate, so it's righ on his budget.

its $120 out of pocket, then you cross your fingers and hope to get $20 back in 8 weeks

if it was $100, then newegg would charge you $100 on your CC

That card only fits in his budget if he actually has $120 to spend right now and wants to wait months for 20 of it back... I usually consider rebates a bonus but not something I calculate into the real cost.

Oh, I didn't see it was sprakle. Go for the 4850 then.

I was recoemnding the GTS 250 becuase the 1gb was 90$ the other day, I didn't know the sale ended, then I needed to stand my ground instead of admmiting I was wrong.

And I have an ATI card in my current rig, but I do like Nvidia.

Eh, wouldn't even consider that card. The standard clocks on the GTS 250 are 738/1836 and that thing is underclocked to 600/1500. That's 18% so the card is probably on par with the 9800GT which can be had for over $20 less.

There are numerous GTS 250's on newegg that come with a free game download (i.e. Resident Evil 5) which will, in effect, cut your card cost down to < $60 after accounting for the cost of the game.

do not buy that card, i owned it! It is the loudest peace of crap I have ever owned. I could hear it my kitchen two rooms away. It sounds like someone is running a dust buster in the other room.

P.S. your game download theory only works if someone was willing to purchase one of the three games offered. If they where its a great deal, if not then they cant even resell it on ebay to recoup any cost.

Prolly a defective card there.

I've found Asus cooling to be silent.

so do I as I have owned two other cards with the exact same cooler but look at all the newegg reviews. Every (and I mean every) one complains about the noise.
