I'm ready to buy a system.. For gaming/college on a budget. If I can do better for the price please tell me.

Are all of these parts worth their cash? (no overlcock/crossfire... i was going to but if i don't have to then it's not worth the cash)

No, no, no. Do NOT get that PSU. It's a POS.

The 5830 would be a little weak for gaming at 1080p. I'd recommend either spring for the 5850 (total build cost of about $620 w/o RAM) or managing with lowered details with a single 5770 until you can buy a second one.

Basically, here's what I would suggest:

CPU: X3 425 $70
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 $125 after rebate
GPU: HD 5770 $160
HDD: Seagate 7200.12 500 GB $55
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 650W $75
Case/Optical: Coolermaster 690 and cheap SATA DVD burner $72

Total: $557

OR

CPU: X3 425 $70
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 $80 after rebate
GPU: HD 5850 $300
HDD/PSU: Seagate 7200.12 500 GB and OCZ StealthXStream 700W $95 after rebate
Case/Optical: Coolermaster 690 and cheap SATA DVD burner $72

Total: $621

EDIT: I found some better combos that require less rebates.

I think I will be purchasing this tonight or tomorrow, if I get the "ok" from the pros (you).

Do you have a preference between the case you suggested and the one I have selected (they are equal price with shipping)

How fail-proof are rebates? (should i count that as money spent or money in my pocket? Can I whine to companies to make sure I get them, or are they just false advertisement?)

If I want to connect to wireless internet (wifi) will I be needing a wireless card? sorry I'm soooo noob :(

What monitor, preferably equal to or greater than 23" with high def? They just went off sale a couple days ago so now I am looking around again :S

That looks good.

The 300 Illusion is a good case, but I just haven't looked at it in a while because it's price shot up lie $20-30 a week or so ago.

Rebates really depend on the company. I'm 3 for 3 in my last build (Asus, Corsair, and some random cable company). The Corsair I got back in under a month, the Asus took a few months, and the cable took a good 6 months. I guess what I'm getting at is that you shouldn't break a budget to over rebates, but you shouldn't be too concerned about spending a few extra bucks on the build.

Yes, you will need a wireless card or a USB wireless adapter. They can be found for around $30.

I'm partially to Asus. I know they've got a good one that's 23" (I think) for $180.

The monitor looks good. I would recommend finding a wireless N card/adapter so that you can take advantage of faster speeds either now or later.

Totally missed that part. Generally the product title just lists b/g/n. That one lists b/g then separately n. I really should have looked at that after I had some coffee...

It will be fine then. I will say that I would personally go for a USB adapter simply because there isn't much difference and a USB can be transferred to a different computer easily.
