Core i5-750 Idle-50C Work-80C !!! Tags: CPUs Core Intel i5 Product Last response: June 29, 2010 6:14 PM in CPUs Share aaron92 June 29, 2010 4:49:13 PM Alright this is really scaring me... I am using an aftermarket cooler that seemed to have nice reviews and would suit me fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... I am overclocked to 3.4 Ghz but even at stock speeds, I have the exact same idle / work temperatures... So I ask you, is this normal and why hasn't my computer asploded already, and what can I do to lower my temperatures? If the paste does not create a proper seal, temperatures are often significantly higher than they should be. aaron92 June 29, 2010 5:37:01 PM Do you have an example of what is the proper method? Your voltage is too high for stock. 1.328v is voltage that people use to typically overclock up to 3.8GHz or so. Normal stock voltages I've seen are around 1.26v or less. user 18 a b à CPUs June 29, 2010 6:10:55 PM This seems to be a good guide. It's not for your specific CPU, and is a few years old, but goes over many of the important factors in applying thermal paste. http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_conten... user 18 a b à CPUs June 29, 2010 6:14:12 PM Read this thread too, it has a lot of good info. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/256233-29-blob-spread...
