Intel Core i7 and AMD Phenom ii x6

I am planning on building my own desktop and I am trying to decide which processor to go with. I have come down to AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX and Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601930. i7 is a quad core but it also has hyperthreading (which i've been told each hyperthreaded core is equivalent to 1.5 cores). I am planning to use this as my main computer and I do a lot of processor heavy applications (video encoding, gaming every once in a while, virtual machines, etc.). I multitask a lot too. Which processor should I go with?

-Thanks in Advance

More about intel core phenom
  1. If you are doing encoding and all that go with i7-930 but if you are really multitasking, like HARDCORE multitasking, go with the x6, just over clock it. Overall go with the i7, but what is your budget?
  2. I would go AMD its cheaper so you could get more ram for your vm's and a better graphic card for gaming. ALSO amd is easier to upgrade to bulldozer.
