Video Card recommendation please

Good Evening

I would like to get some advises on what video card should i upgrade to.

Right now im using a single SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 but i feel that it now needs an upgrade either on xfiring it or getting some new cards....

Also FYI im using a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P Mobo

Right now my budget is kinda limited to im thinking in spending as much as 325.00 on video atm, i was looking at some charts and comparing some prices but i would appreciate some help.

Should i get another 4850 (which is gonna be hard to find)?
Should i get 2 x 4870? or 2x 4890? or 2 x 5770?
Should i just go single card and get a better one rather than getting 2 cheaper in xfire?

Thanks for your time

Juan

  1. Hello,

Get two HD 4850s in CrossFireX it'll perform like and HD 5850, and max out most titles on highest settings. On Newegg you can get one for $94.99.
  2. I have the same motherboard. I sugest you to go with another 4850 in crossfire for the moment.
  3. Thanks for the quick reply
  4. One more question if you guys dont mind...

The model i have is the Sapphire 100245L

The model been sold in new egg is the Sapphire 100245HDMI
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102824&cm_re=4850-_-14-102-824-_-Product

Will is still be able to get em to work in Xfire??
  5. you could add any 4850
  6. 4850 crossfireX is your best choise, but if you want to spend more money and use DirectX11, go for 5770x2 or single 5850.
  7. The question here what is the size of your PSU? Is it big enough to handle the crossfire?
  8. Another option is an HD5850. It has an number of advantages like DX11 compatibility, leaves a slot open for a future upgrade, no crossfire scaling/compatibility issues, less heat, much more power efficient, eyefinity if you are interested in such and can OC to an absurd degree if you bump up the voltage(40% plus.) It will also cost much more, but it is within your stated budget, and can be mitigated slightly by ebaying your HD4850.
