How to update the latest applications in freecom hard drive

Hello, My Freecom 500 GB is most of the times not recognised by my TV and by Laptop. Also if Found most of the mkv files not playing....saying invalid file. how to resolve this?

Disk is probably going bad if this all worked fine before. You can try a new cable or case for the hard-drive first. If that does not do the trick, copy the files to a new drive. Assuming the files were working fine before and were not encoded in some form that your devices can't play.
