Tri-SLI GTX 470s Power Consumption?

I have 2 GTX470s running SLI perfectly but I want to add another one (they all are Superclocked editions) and I was wondering if my OCZ Z-Series 1000W 80+ GOLD Certified EDITION could handle it with my 4.0GHz i7-860? Im running all of this in a MSI Big Bang Trinergy.

  1. Should work. I calculated it using values that I guessed on, but I tried to be as pessimistic as possible, so that it was the worst case scenario. Anyways, your PSU should do fine. Worst case scenario is you encounter instability, and need a bigger PSU.
  2. You have plenty of power for that the OCZ Z-series is a great power supply.

Are you sure? Im quite scared since the 3 GTX-470s would be the Superclocked editions and my Big Bang Trinergy with my i7-860 OC 4.0 GHz can draw almost 275W alone...the good things is that I only power those and 1 HDD, one Corsair H50 and a simple DVD-CD Drive
  4. Well each card can draw a max of 250 watts but in the real world gaming aspect of it you will only be drawing about 200 watts at the most, 175 watt per card is a more realistic number.
  5. Don't worry. As Saaiello has said, you have room enough.
  6. 275w (max power draw for OCed CPU) + 225w x3 (max power draw for 3 GPUS) + 50w other components = 1000w is the theoretical max power draw from my estimates

In reality, power draw from 3x GTX470s peaks at 800watts, so your 1000watt PSU should be fine.

Even if they are Superclocked editions with my i7-860 at 4.0GHz... isnt it going to stress 100% my PSU? inst that kinda wrong or not recommended?
