I'm building 5 identicle machines. All 5 will have i5-2500k and P67. I've seen configurations with DDR3-2000/2100. Does it need memory that fast to perform well or can I use DDR3-1600?

Thanks in advance.

You don't need DDR3 2000 MHz RAM at all for a Sandy Bridge build. 1600 MHz should be plenty fast enough, heck, even 1333MHz should be perfectly fine. 2000MHz RAM would be a waste of money. Just make sure to check if your RAM is supported by the motherboard you intend to use.

^+1 1600 MHz RAM, waste of money for most yes.

Yes, look for the QVL listed RAM at MOBO website. Example P8P67 PRO http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=HMMvTCuBcZLfu2YL {Memory Support List} otherwise go to the RAM Mfg's website and look-up your MOBO. Keep in mind most RM Mfg's have NOT tested their RAM yet and you might need to contact them via a Ticket to confirm.

If you're building multiple systems I would stick to the QVL List for now. RMA'ing 5 sets of everything is a PITA.

Good Luck!
