Have really awesome systems, my system has the 1090t, 6gig of ram and the 5770.
So, the killer question..
How do you make money?
I'm in College and the minimum wage for someone under 18 in the UK is beyond a joke, so getting a part-time job is out of the question, what I'm aiming towards is a new GFX cards, possibly 6970 or two, 6990 when it comes out, perhaps.. so how would I go about this?
Oh yeah, and a few monitors.
Is there anything that's merchable or any part-time jobs I could pursue that paid quite generously?
Thanks

I was a college student at one time, too, with 'sub-par' equipment for gaming, but eventually you'll graduate, hopefully find a job, and then maybe you can pick up whatever it is you desire (probably a 8990 or something like that).

I don't know that you can infer that a person with an elaborate PC is really afluent, but I do think you can say that they aren't poor.

Lots of people these days have expensive things related to their interests, even if they aren't rich. Things like large flatscreen TV's, sports cars, motorcycles, boats are not essentials to life but if they are something that a person wants, then a person can figure out a way to prioritize their expenditures and save for the fun item. I've had a few hobbies that might seem relatively expensive, but I see people from all income ranges that have fishing boats, sometimes expensive fishing boats, and that has to be a pretty expensive hobby. A PC setup for $2000 or less is a whole lot cheaper than a good fishing boat. We may have people here that eat Ramen noodles everyday in order to afford a nice PC.

I remember when I was a college student over 35 years ago, we didn't have PC's, but the thing everybody wanted was a good stereo system. I was working part time but I also had some support from my parents, and I was able to buy a stereo system that cost about $700. (I still have part of it.) That expenditure in today's money would buy a very good PC system.

I went to school. Then I got a job. Instead of buying food or clothes for my wife and kids I spend it all on my PC. My biggest guilty pleasure is showing off my e-peen. LOL.
e-peen... I love that word

This is a difficult question indeed, and no disrespect intended, but from your writing you seem very naive; so I hope I can add some prospective by starting from the beginning. First of all I'd like to put in perspective that you're already very wealthy (more than $10 dollars a day? you're in the top 20% of the world) and thus in competition with the many whom would like to claw their way into your economic situation any way they can (education, trade, politics, war.. or by immigrating and competing in the minimum wage bracket) . This is why your education is so important, because if you're at a low level there are literally Millions of starving poor able and willing to do your job harder for less money.

You're lucky that mommy and daddy pushed you through grade school but that's not quite enough any more.. You risk falling into the working poor range and dropping out of college and then what?? nobody here to save the other 80% of the world so not many people are going to be there to help you.. you'll have to roll the dice on your life (and very few roll the lucky streak that takes them off the street and gives them a second chance)

You're still in limbo here, young, relatively educated (high school is much more than most working poor will have) but you're not nearly secure with a college degree or promising career or high wage job; but (cutting to the chase and why i say naive) you're casually shopping in the same range as a professional or enthusiast like you should afford it. It's out of your price/age range to be doing that, though it's your time to waste if you disagree.. I'm not commanding you i'm just giving you some ideas of my experience and that of the majority of all humans (the 80%+)

You have a system many hard working college students or recent grads would see as higher end already (unless it's a company/work system that requires enthusiast parts to properly work and earn a job). I don't think you realize that so I typed it out for you with a summary of why, and I hope you start to understand that (my post isn't nearly all-there-is-fact, rather a serving of knowledgeable opinion).

Anything that expensive is going to require you to get a career to easily afford, else live miserly on minimum wage (like many more qualified and hard working than you have to do to for just food and shelter) to afford it. Paying for it now with a minimum wage job is not smart either when you're not even in a safe position in life (almost working poor).
and..

If there are generous part time jobs or careers ( It's not that simple, you'll see ) than likely the competition at your education level is going to beat you for the spot 90% of the time whether with job experience or certifications or personal initiative.. So stop wasting your money and time on fantasy luxury PC items and get to work with your life.. or waste your time and money then hope that luck brings you a fantastic life that you didn't have to work hard or plan for..

--My opinion in summary
US college student.

well said. I'd have to add, minimum wage is actually still money, so if you aren't willing to put some work towards earning some spending money the cash will not magically drop into your lap.

Forget about a lightening-bolt computer. Buy Silver and take delivery. When your silver doubles in price in just a few weeks, don't sell but realize it's a lot like yeast, the bread is just beginning to rise. Keep buying, even when the price keeps going up, buy until you are nearly going hungry because of it. One day you'll be able to buy whatever you want because paper money won't be worth the cost of printing it. Nobody will even trade a loaf of bread for it, but Silver and Gold will always be valuable. Gold has been maxed out for too long, but Silver has been suppressed, especially by J.P. Morgan & Co. Their balloon will pop soon and silver is going to go the the moon in price... you heard it here first... maybe not.
