I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and can tell me how to fix
it. I've had the above machine for about 3 years now and no problems
until just a few mins ago I noticed the screen was kind of shimmering..
something I had never notice before.. The a few times I saw it blank
out.. Then finally it totally blanked and I couldn't get it to come
back.. The only way I have found out I can get it to sort of work is to
close the lid and open it and it will flicker a bit and you can sort of
make out what's on the screen but then completely goes out again after
about 2 seconds.. everytime I do this the same thing will happen.

Sounds like a bad connection since it will flicker when I open the lid
for a bit.. Almost seems like it's not getting enough power.. Has
anyone had this happen on there's before? It's a shame cause the UXGA
scren on this laptop is the best part about it.. I love it.. I don't
mind taking it apart if anyone has any suggestions..

TIA

I have the same problem and I'm almost sure the problem is with the lid switch. If you stick a pencil into the right hand notch you'll activate the switch and the screen will come back to life again for 1-1000 secs depending on it's mood.

That's an old post, did you manage to get it fixed perhaps?

I just tried to take my laptop apart but got scared half way through.

Agree about the screen. Amazing.

Please help if you know how to solve this.
