I have the K23. When running the laptop off of AC power and running a
DVD it runs fine. I have 512MB and resources used are at about 60%.
When running strictly off of the battery the resources used jumps
immediately to 100% and I get skips/bad framrate when playing a DVD. I
have no other major programs running in the background.
Is there some optimum setting I should use to prevent this problem
when running on battery?
Or could there be something else wrong?
I have tried closing processes in the background and also using both
Windows Media Player and Intervideo DVD with the same results.

Are you running the Sony Powerpanel, or using Windows power settings? I
would use the Sony since it is a BIOS-related (if it is the Phoenix app
similar to other Sony P4/P4M laptops). It should be in the task bar to
work properly. Select the appropriate settings for video playback on
battery.
