Go with the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB over the WD. 1) Priced better with similar performance, 2) The EVGA board doesn't support SATA 6.0 Gb/s, so you won't get any benefit for having one.

I have the Samsung and it rivals my WD Velicoraptor in performance.

I would go with this motherboard... ASUS P6X58D-E. Great motherboard for the price & gets you USB 3.0 & SATA 6.0 Gb/s.

EVGA doesn't have a board that supports those two, at the momment,

thats about 100 less than my budget. generally the better MBs are the more expensive. im looking for value per dollar but my budget allows for some extravagance.

my budget for MB is between 300-340 . is there a better choice out there in this price range?

At your price range, I would get the ASUS P6X58D Premium, which IMO is the best X58 motherboard.
