im using 16GB ON AN INTEL CORE i3 cpu 3.07GHz 3.07 GHz and when my cpu usage reaches 100% only 2.99 of the ram is seen to be used.Is the remaining of the ram wasted?.

it however says 15.09 GB of ram is usable when you go to properties on 'my computer'

im an architect and i use 3ds max for visualisation and its memory intensive. the operating system is 64 bit. i really need to get my high quality renders with the appropriate settings in good time. :)

Can my memory use keep increasing to make more use of the ram after my cpu use has hit 100%.
I have about 13GB left when the cpu use reaches 100%
From the way the situation is, does it mean that my cpu at 100% usage cannot make use of more than 3 GB?

:-(

I've never built a rendering station that wasn't 1366 based, most of those getting 12 GB.

Remember autodesk recommends 2 GB RAM min. (4 GB recommended) and 2 GB swap space (4 GB recommended)**

** Autodesk recommends settings that allow Windows to manage virtual memory as needed. There should always be at least twice as much free hard disk space as system memory (RAM).

Being that you have so much RAM and aren't using it, you might try disabling the swap file altogether.

@Jacknaylorpe: when u r rendering , does ur pc use up to 12 gb of ram.... i mean to have 12 gb displayed in the task manager , under the performance tab?

what is the swap file and how do i disable it. please explain how it would improve the performance of my pc.
