why is it that my nba game (2k10) still lags / is still slow even if i have already upgraded my pc from sempron 2.0ghz to athlon II x4 2.8 ghz?

here are my specs
board is asus m2n68
graphics card is on board geforce 7050 pv/nvidia 630a
ram is 3gb
processor is athlon II x4 2.8 ghz

is this a computer issue or do i need to upgrade another part again?

Video games rely on the video/graphics card for rendering the images and projecting them to your monitor. You need a better video card than that terribly weak onboard geforce 7050. Most anything you buy will run circles around it, but I would recommend no less than a Radeon 5670 if you can afford it.

There's your problem. Onboard graphics are no good for gaming.

will the type of monitor affect the performance of computer gaming? what would i need to buy, a new video card or a new monitor?

what video card can you recommend to me at a lower price?

thanks

The second video card I listed is a little big, so if you are considering that, make sure you have about 10 inches long and 4 inches deep to spare for your single PCI-E 16 express slot. It's also more on par with that processor you upgraded too.

The cheaper card will do the trick for you currently, but not for all future games.

The monitor will effect the resolution you can play at... Also the refresh rate and the response time. I wouldn't worry about it unless its a really old monitor, or unless you're going to spend alot of money on big graphics cards and big games.

The monitor has nothing to do with it, besides limiting the resolution you play at. What's your budget for a video card?

I would go with the
Sparkle GT220 1024MB DDR2 128bit
or the
INNO3D GT220 512MB DDR2 128BIT HDMI
Radeons are good too... but there are alot of complaints about driver issues, and complexity with Radeon cards. Since you didn't know about upgrading a video card, thats why I say keep it simple on that part.
