More about what fastest single slot graphics card watt
  1. the GTX 480 uses around 483 watts at full load. Combine that with your other components and you'll be adding another 300ish watts.

    Here's what I used: http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

The GTX 480 is not in the list yet. Leave it blank and add the 483 watts I mentioned.

For the 4xx series power/temps, check this out: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/03/26/nvidia_fermi_gtx_470_480_sli_review/7
  2. Here are the specs for the EVGA GTX480 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130552 It requires 42 amps on +12volt
  3. Single slot? All gaming GPUs are at least dual slot cards.

The GTX480 and the 5970 are both dual slot GPUs.

The fastest graphics card is the 5970. It is about 40% faster than the GTX480.

The fastest single-GPU card is the GTX480.
  4. wow thanks! umm ok besides the GTX 480 and 470 what is the fastest EVGA single slot card for my psu?
  5. GTX295 a dual gpu card needs to much power so GTX285 is fasted
  6. yea, the power requirments look good but i need a card that is single slot.

The card fits in one PCI-e slot and will block the next slot below it (usually a normal pci slot). If that is to much for your current setup. You need to be looking for 9800gt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130435
  8. weeeellll my dell mobo has mine placed that there is a small Solenoid right beside the slot. so that I can only use a slingle slot width card. any suggestions?
  9. Does it stick up above the slot?
  10. yes unfourtunatly
  11. right by the slot. :(
  12. But in any case it is time that you tell us what CPU you have then we can find the fastest single slot GPU to match.
  13. Ok here is my system,
    4gbs of ddr2 ram (I added 2gbs)
Amd athlon 64x2 6000 3.00 GHz (I upgraded the prosseser and installed a scythe shrunken CPU cooler)
Upgraded from the stock 280watt to a Ultra LSP 650watt ps
    EVGA 9800gt
Windows Vista home premium 32bit SP 2
    MOBO: ??? I think it is this…
    DMI Baseboard
    vendor Dell Inc
    model 0FP406
    revision A03
    Chipset: nVidia

Your best bet would be a GTS250 with a aftermarket cooler that does not cover the whole card although it is not a huge upgrade from your 9800GT. The other option would be get a cheap AM2+/AM3 motherboard (reuse all your other hardware) and a HD5770 or GTX260 or even wait for some GTX3xx to come out any thing more powerful would be held back by your current CPU. Later on you can then upgrade to a new AMD X4
  15. thanks alot Ill look into that.

  17. 4850. The 5750 might come in as single slot card. Either option should be better then the GTS250.

the GTX 480 uses around 483 watts at full load.

How do you figure rndmavis? Its impossible for the card to consume that much power.

He is confusing the power used by the card with the one used by the whole system.
