Ati Reference Boards

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

Where might I find a ATI hd 5870 without a cooler on it so I can attach a swiftech heatsink and mcw60 block to it? I think they are called reference boards. I keep searching for them and all it does is take me to more forums like overclockers net and such. I hope it isn't like buying one and then take the cooler off.

Plz and thankyou

It is exactly buying one and taking the cooler off. Reference just means it has the cooler designed by AMD and the PCB designed by AMD. There is no such thing as a GPU without the cooler.

Ahhhhhhh bulllllll lol, I knew it couldnt be as easy as buying it without the cooler for a lil cheaper. I hate giant companies. Thankyou very very much.

Some people just do anyway, I know a couple of people who remove every cooler regardless and reseat it themselves, sometimes lapping the coolers first. Over the top as far as im concerned but then if thats what your into then fine i guess.
