Wireless internet connection problem

Hello,
My brother recently built a new rig and for some reason he often gets a lot of disconnections or lag. The weird thing is we both have laptops and the internet connection works fine for those but for some reason his desktop computer seems to have connection problems. I cant seem to pinpoint the problem. I tried downloading drivers and such but it doesnt really fix the problem. BTW hes using Windows 7. Im thinking he should do a fresh install but he wasnts to do it as a last resort.

[#000ff]He might benefit from raising his wireless adapter above the level of the tower in case that is itself causing the signal to fall over efore reaching the antenna. A USB dongle can be raised by an extension lead and Blue-Tac'd to the wall as high as possible. Most PCI cards have an aerial that will unscrew and be replaced by one on a long cord.[/#000ff]
