My Father wants me to see if I can work out a server build for his small office. (~10 people) He won't be using it for more than storing information, print server, and file sharing.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: In the next 2 months

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: File Sharing, Print Server, Backup Storage, Website Hosting

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg.ca

PARTS PREFERENCES: We prefer Intel, but we wont hesitate to experiment with AMD.

OVERCLOCKING: Nope

MONITOR RESOLUTION: N/A (Headless)

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Out budget is about $700 CAD, can be flexible.

Do you need an OS in your budget? If not, here's a build at just over $700 CAD.

The i5 750 may be overkill for this type of build, but it would be nice to have the horsepower when needed. What amount of website traffic are you expecting?

The OS will need to be included into the system price, forgot to mention that. And the website won't be too demanding, just something simple, like an "About Us" type of website.

In that case, I would make some adjustments. Here's a build that comes in under budget and includes the OS and two HD's for RAID.

I understand that, but this doesn't really require a true "server" OS from what I can see. I guess we'll have to wait for the OP to clear up what OS he would like to have.

A true server OS isn't really an option anyway since it costs more than the whole system budget. :)

Microsoft Windows Server Standard 2008 R2 64 bit x64 English 1pk - OEM $739.99

Edit: There, now I upgraded the OS in my build to Windows 7 Professional. Does that sound better?
