Small Office Server

My Father wants me to see if I can work out a server build for his small office. (~10 people) He won't be using it for more than storing information, print server, and file sharing.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: In the next 2 months

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: File Sharing, Print Server, Backup Storage, Website Hosting

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor

For what you're going to use it for, did you look at servers like the HP ProLiant ML110 G5 with a few SATA hard disks in RAID0+1 configuration?

The i5 750 may be overkill for this type of build, but it would be nice to have the horsepower when needed. What amount of website traffic are you expecting?

The OS will need to be included into the system price, forgot to mention that. And the website won't be too demanding, just something simple, like an "About Us" type of website.

I understand that, but this doesn't really require a true "server" OS from what I can see. I guess we'll have to wait for the OP to clear up what OS he would like to have.

A true server OS isn't really an option anyway since it costs more than the whole system budget.

the only real server OS that fits this budget is Linux with Samba base (FREE)

^ Agreed. There really is no point to run anything other than Linux for server duty. HOWEVER, the main downside is that one needs a bit more work with Linux to set up a server properly, but once set up, it's very stable.

I run linux as a firewall and NAS.
