8gb shown as 4gb

windows xp 64bit OS shows 8gb of ram in " system properties"
However on downgrading the same system to xp 32 bit OS it shows 4gb ram
although physically 8gb is present
is it not possible to use 8gb in windows xp 32 bit ?
pl. help us out

32-bit doesn't support more than 4GB of RAM. You'll need a 64-bit OS in order for Windows to recognize all 8GB.
