I am trying out windows 7 and server 2008 in VM workstation 6.5 with NAT, with a DNS IP of 192.168.44.x

I am able to ping to but IE unable to load the page.

Tried manual DNS IP at as guided in plenty of sites but still fail.

Tried turning off IE ESC for admin and user in server 2008 but still fail.

can anyone assist?

My host is using a cable network, no proxy setting required from my IE.

The 192.168.x.x address space is private (i.e., confined to the local network). If you're using this IP subnet for your DNS server, then you must have a local DNS server. Is this the case?

nope. I do not have a local DNS server. My host is connected via router to the ISP. DHCP is used (all IP and DNS from ISP) just that my host is using a fixed IP. for the guest OS, my IP via NAT is 192.168.44.x. I can ping out but just IE unable to load any page.
