Hello,

My wife just bought this laptop from staples (the hp dv7-7015ca) and I have searched the hp forums and product spec sheets, but I can not seem to find if this laptop supports a second hard drive option.

Can someone please tell me if the laptop will support 2 drives, because I would love to buy her a nice 9.5" SSD and use it as the boot drive, and use the HDD as storage.

If this upgrade is an option, do I need any extra cables, a caddy, and if possible, part numbers so I can make a purchase and not 3 or more purchases.

And cloning the HDD is not too hard, but what software would you recommend?

Thanks

I just bought this laptop. I purchased an OCZ 120GB SSD for it. I am in the process of swapping them in. I had to order a Hard Drive Disk Hardware Kit from HP for about $66 which included a caddy, and extra cables. I also had them send the recovery disks to install windows 7 with all the drivers on the SSD.

Unfortunately the discs error out near the end of the installation and after three tries I haven't had success. I may try cloning the factory 1TB HDD and see it that works.

No, that laptop only has 1 drive bay. Here's the link to the spec sheet: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03279325&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5255877

Here's a link to the User Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03204162.pdf
Page 56 shows only 1 drive bay.
