Hello... :hello:

I need your opinions, guys...
Currently i have E6300(old) at stock speed (1.8 Ghz) and use an aftermarket cooler:
http://www.thermaltake.com/product_info.aspx?PARENT_CID...

Idle temps are 47-49'C and full load about 50'C, my room temps are 34'C-35'C, i live in hot place.
When i try to OC it, let's say at 2.2Ghz, the temps are jump to 53'C-54'C idle.

What is the safe temps for this cpu? max temp?
What is wrong? I thought this cpu could do much better even with a stock cooler...

Do i have a bad cpu or cooler? or what?

Thank you very much... :)

I'm not sure of the specific value for your processor but personally I think 60-65C at load is approaching the upper limits. You can try and get your temps down a bit further but as you mentioned its a lot harder when you live in a warm place already. I'm not too hot on aftermarket coolers but I know the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ is very popular among these forums so that may be worth a look at if you wanted to try a new cooler.

How is the general airflow through your case? Have a nose through my guide on Overheating Issues, the link is in my sig. It may be a worthwhile read. Good luck!

I too have a E6300, it was one of the best processors at its time.Coming to your question, mine idles at around 30 degrees(Celsius) and goes up to the low 40s under load.I have the stock cooler and the CPU is not overclocked.Are these the temperatures you have been getting throughout the time you have had the processor or did these temperatures increase recently?In either case there seems to have been a problem in the installation of the cooler and I would suggest that you reinstall the cooler and apply the thermal paste properly.

Those temps are at a day, when the night has come i turned the AC ON, my room temp is about 26'C and the cpu temps are only drop 5'C (idle at 40'C-44'C).
I'm pretty sure i have good airflow inside my case because the other components temps are cool:
HDDs= 40'C (day) and 32'C (night)
GPU=59'C (day) and 56'C (night)

I'm kind a frustrated/confused now, i have a good gpu but can't maxed it out because my cpu is bottlenecking it (only 1.8Ghz). :D
I'm a gamer, so this situation, i'm not like it.

About the cooler that you've mentioned above:
http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6603

Will it fit on my board? (GA 965P-DS3)
Thank you for your kin moody89, i'm sorry, i'm a noob when it comes to CPU... :)

These temps were happened all the time, since i bought this system in early 2007. No matter how many times i re-seat the cooler and re-apply the thermal paste, i still got these temps. I forgot what brand, but i bought this thermal paste about $12 (extreme??... bla3x). Yes, you're right, i'm pretty sure my cpu is great for OC even with stock cooler...

I'm not sure I'm liking the idea of sticking a $50 CPU cooler on your E6300. But at least you could move a CM Hyper 212 Plus over into your next system since it supports 1156/1366 sockets in addition to 775.

In your place I think I'd like the $80 option of upgrading the CPU to a 2.93Ggz Pentium E6500 Wolfdale. OC's to 3.4Ghz without a change in voltage.
It's on the GA 965P-DS3 supported CPU list with BIOS F14.

Excellent thermal compound. It's possible your E6300 just didn't run as cool as others. There is always some variations even in the same binned CPUs and between steppings.

Those are normal temps considering your ambient temps of mid 30's, your best bet is to add a larger aftermarket cooler, but then still, you are only looking at a few degrees as your ambient temp is very high and air cooling uses exactly that, the ambient air!

The drop you see at night is correct, you will not get the same drop from cpu as drop in ambient temp as CPU is still producing heat,

10-15 degrees above ambient is normal, a larger coler will just help with greater heat removal allowing a faster clock, but not by the huge amount you are hoping, you need ambient temps to go below 20 degrees for that!

Yes, maybe your CPU like to run hot. You can give another cooler a try if you wish.

So, you think it's better moving to a new cpu better than a new cooler, right?
Now where i should search for this cpu, hmm...

Right now i'm pretty sure my mobo BIOS is F12...
