X4 635 and M4A785 or X3 440 and GA770TA-ud3

Solution
I would save the $26 (counting the rebate). The 770TA-UD3 is more future proof, and the CPU difference won't noticeably improve gaming performance. Once you throw in the cost of adding a USB 3/SATA III expansion card (about $30), you're spending quite a bit extra and not getting much in return.

Even the monthly "Best Gaming CPU for the Money" article suggests the X3: "As mentioned previously, the Athlon II X3 440 features such value-oriented (and yet wholly solid) gaming performance that it is difficult to recommend spending $100 to $130 for similar results."
