Hi everyone,

I've just bought myself a shiny new 5870 and installed Windows 7 x64 (previously used Vista), and haven't changed any other components. Everything looks good for the most part in terms of idle stability and temperatues, but when I try to play a game such as Bad Company 2 I'll eventually encounter a lockup and/or BSOD.

The message I receive on the BSOD is:

A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval.
The event log in Windows records this as:

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Internal Timer Error
Processor ID: 6
I also checked the crash dump in 'BlueScreenView', but it seems to list a different problem (same time though); a stop code of 0x00000124 in ntoskrnl.exe

I've tried updating to the latest BIOS firmware for my motherboard, I'm using the latest drivers available for everything else, and I've disabled the Intel speedstepping/turbo boost in the BIOS to see if this would help at all. I also haven't overclocked anything here - it's all at stock settings.

Here's my setup:

i7 920 D0 2.66Ghz
Asus P6T
Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C7
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X 1GB
Windows 7 x64
Tagan 800W PSU (not sure of the model, but it's ~3-4 years old)

Any help would be appreciated! :)
