The microphone in my head phone does not work why?

my microphone in my headphone does not work,eventhough i can hear songs and stuffs with it. when i audio chat with someone ,i can hear their voice but an analog says no microphone device detectd. pls somebody help me

Sounds like a hardware problem, of which there is little hope or repairing.

Silly question but are you 100% sure it's plugged into the microphone port and the system is configured to "record" that input?

Did it work previously and stop working recently?
